15th PRAGUE SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

From 22 to 26 January 2020, Prague’s Světozor and Pilotů cinemas hosted the 15th edition of the Prague Short Film Festival, organized by the team behind the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. In 24 different sections, Pragueshorts presented more than 130 of the best and most interesting short films from 35 countries around the world.

The International Competition featured 25 films from 22 countries. The three-member international jury that awarded the Best Film award in this section, including a financial reward of EUR 2,000, consisted of editor Janka Vlčková (Slovakia), curator and member of the Vienna Shorts programming team Diana Mereoiu (Romania), and director Katrín Ólafsdóttir (Iceland). The jury awarded the main prize to the film I Got My Things and Left (Mbabazi Sharangabo, Rwanda) and Special Mention to the Chinese film What Do You Know About the Water and the Moon. The Audience Award went to Burqa City.

The Best Film award in the National Competition, which also included a financial reward of EUR 2,000, went to Switched Shifts. The jury, which consisted of Serbian director and screenwriter Stefan Arsenijević, Estonian journalist Tristan Priimägi, and Slovakian producer Ľubica Orechovská. gave its Special Mention to George the Dog, Refugee.

The jury for this section will present the award for Best Film in the International Competition, which comes with a 2,000-euro financial reward. It can also hand out two Honorable Mentions.
