Come visit our new VR Zone, put on a helmet and try out some of the currently most interesting projects working with virtual reality and immersive experience. For quite some time now we have been dealing with more than just one reality and if wanted to count all possible dimensions, we would hardly stop at four as we used to. As we move significant portions of our lives into the intangible online space and consume ever more perfect digital images, our perception and understanding of space-time relationships and structures moves far beyond the limits we accepted as given at the beginning of this millennium. This is as much true for the perception of reality as it is for the perception of fictional worlds and stories including those portrayed in films. Full digitization of motion pictures and sound which allows them to be manipulated at will, and our experience with videogame environments shifted film narration to whole new planes where immersion plays a much greater role than we were used to. This new art form of “immersive experience” is currently undergoing rapid development and since the short-length format allows authors to try out new and unconventional forms most readily, it is only logical that in this stage – as the form searches for its own specific language and means of expression – VR projects are almost exclusively short. If you would like to find out how much these media newcomers can express today or just see what they’re like, you’ll have a unique opportunity to check them out in the VR Zone.
Tickets for both the individual films (Nothing Happens, Blade Runner 2049: Memory Lab, Allumette, Notes on Blindness: Into Darkness, Miyubi) and the film series (Transport) cost CZK 50. VR zone tickets can be purchased at the ticket office in Cinema Světozor.
After entering the zone, our VR team members will attend to you and explain all you need to know. Once you have booked your experience and purchased your ticket, make sure to arrive with the ticket at least 5 minutes before the booked screening begins.
The VR zone will be waiting for you from 19th to 21st January 2018 (on Friday from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. and on the weekend from 2 p.m. till 8 p.m.) in the basement of Cinema Světozor.
