The main award goes to the film I Got My Things and Left
This year’s International Competition featured 25 films from 22 countries. The three-member jury, which presented the award for Best Film in the International Competition and a 2,000-euro reward, consisted of editor Janka Vlčková (Slovakia), curator and member of the Vienna Shorts programming team Diana Mereoiu (Romania), and director Katrín Ólafsdóttir (Iceland). The Main Prize went to I Got My Things and Left (Mbabazi Sharangabo, Rwanda). The jury in particular appreciated the fact that the 23-minute film, “without being tragic, depicts mourning as an integral part of life. Working with an intimate style and sense of curiosity, it masterfully explores the possibilities of the language of cinema and show that creativity and friendship have healing powers.” Congratulations!
