Daniel Soares

Daniel Soares is a Portuguese writer, filmmaker, and photographer, who was born in Germany. His first narrative short film, What Remains (2021), screened at several international festivals, including Telluride, Clermont-Ferrand, and the Hong Kong International Film Festival. It won the Grand Prix at the Festival Premiers Plans D’Angers and Best Portuguese Short Film at the IndieLisboa International Film Festival. His previous work, the documentary short Forgotten (2018), was screened at several festivals in North America. In 2022, he was selected for Locarno’s Spring Academy, where he wrote and directed his newest short film, Please Make It Work (2022), which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2022.
