Krzysztof Zanussi
Krzysztof Zanussi (1939, Poland) studied physics and philosophy. He started making short amateur films during his studies and later decided to study film directing at the Film, TV and Theater at Lodz. He graduated in 1966 with The Death of a Provincial (Śmierć prowincjala), winner of several festival awards including an award from Venice. In 1969, he made his feature debut, The Structure of Crystal (Struktura krysztalu). Since then, he has made over 20 films, many of which have won prestigious awards and made him as famous as Krzysztof Kieślowsky and Andrzej Wajda. His other films include Camouflage (Barwy ochronne, 1977), The Constant Factor (Constans, 1980), A Year of the Quiet Sun (Rok spokojeného slunce, 1984) or Life As a Fatal Sexually Transmitted Disease (Zycie jako smiertelna choroba przenoszona droga plciowa, 2009).
