Kim
A gorgeous late northern afternoon on an island in the middle of a foggy sea. Kim, a former circus performer, is the newest patient of the island’s picturesquely neglected mental hospital. For a while he brightens the lives of the other patients dressed in drab hospital gowns.

Alexey German Jr.
Alexey German, jr. (1976, Moscow) is the son of celebrated director Alexey German and screenwriter Svetlana Karmalita. After graduating from the St Petersburg Theatre Academy (SPGATI), he moved to Moscow’s Film School (VGIK), where he built his reputation with films Banner (Znamya, 1998), Large Autumn Field (Bolshoye osenneye pole, 1999) and his graduate film, Little Fools (Durachki, 2001). He demonstrated his fondness for retro atmosphere in his superbly styled debut, The Last Train (Posledny poezd, 2003), winner of the Luigi De Laurentiis Award at Venice and other 50 international and domestic film festival awards. The film screened at 2004 Karlovy Vary’s section East of the West. His following film, Harpastum (Garpastum, 2005), was equally successful, winning Russia’s prestigious Nika and Golden Eagle awards for direction. His last film, Paper Soldier, won the Silver Lion in Venice for Best Director and an award for cinematography.
