I Got My Things and Left

A group of young people in Kigali meet at the home of their deceased friend for a wake. Though he died at a young age, he led a singular life in a conformist society. They spend the evening in remembrance of him and his creative legacy, reflecting on their own life paths.

Philbert Aimé Mbabazi Sharangabo

Mbabazi Sharangabo was born in Rwanda. In 2017 he graduated from the Geneva University of Art and Design. His school films The Liberators and Versus toured the festival circuit. His recent short film I Got My Things And Left (2018) won the Grand Prize at the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival and the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur and has been screened at numerous other festivals. He was selected as part of the Locarno Filmmakers Academy in 2019. He is currently writing his first feature film, Spectrum, which is set in Geneva.
