The Chicken
For her sixth birthday Selma got a live chicken. When she realizes the animal is destined to die in order to feed the family, she decides to save it and set it free. However, she is not aware of the stakes and the ramifications her brave action will have. Selma’s mother becomes a target for a sniper when trying to bring the chicken back. We are in Sarajevo and the year is 1993.

Una Gunjak
Una Gunjak was born in Sarajevo and is currently working as a director and an editor in London. She studied film at the University in Torino and editing at the National Film and TV School in Great Britain. Her work was screened at the most prominent festivals, from Cannes Cinéfondation, to Hot Docs to TIFF. Una’s short film Chicken premiered at the International Critics´ Week at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014 and in the same year was named Europe´s best short film by European Film Academy.
