Christopher Doyle

Christopher Doyle

Christopher Doyle, born in Australia and living in Hong Kong, is one of the most famous and influential cinematographers in today’s international cinema. He got know through cooperation with Hong Kong director Kar-Wai Wong, with who he made seven exceptional films between 1990 and 2004. Among these are Chungking Express, Ashes of Time, In the Mood for Love or 2046, all with a distinct and extremely visual narrative style and many awarded with prestigious prizes, becoming a distinct brand.

Throughout his career, Christopher Doyle worked on dozens of films in Asia, Europe and both the Americas. Some of his projects were in cooperation with distinguished directors, such as Gus van Sant, Jim Jarmush, Niel Jordan or M. Night Shymalan. He himself directed two feature films and one segment of Paris, I love you. This year, he finished a feature documentary called Hong Kong Trilogy, a more comprehensive version of his earlier short project HK 2014 – Education for All.
