Eric Rohmer

Eric Rohmer (b. 1920 – d. 2010, France) worked as an editor and editor-in-chief at Cahiers du Cinema and was responsible for the launch of the French New Wave with Truffaut, Godard and others. Unlike his contemporaries, he did not make it big with his first film, The Sign of Leo (1959). He had to wait for the first of his Six Moral Tales. His most notable films, including My Night with Maud (1969), Claire's Knee (1970), Chloe in the Afternoon (1972), The Marquise of O (1976) or The Green Ray (1986), brought him world fame and awards from Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Oscar nominations.
