The Mozart of Pickpockets

Philippe and Richard are pickpockets in Paris. One day they get stuck with a deaf gypsy kid. They can’t get rid of him so they teach him their “trade". Despite the language barrier, the boy quickly comes up with tricks of his own.

Phillippe Pollet-Villard

Philippe Pollet-Vilard (1960, France) studied fine arts in Saint Etienne and Lyon before he became a director of commercials and music videos. His first short film Ma place sur le trottoir (1998) won the Grand Prix in Clermont-Ferrand. He used the script as basis for his first feature Jacqueline dans ma vitrine (2000). He has made three short films since. His last short film Le Mozart des pickpockets (2006) won this year’s Oscar.
