Václav Kadrnka

Václav Kadrnka is a director, born in September 1973 in Zlín. He and his family moved to Great Britain in 1988, where he devoted himself to studying theatre. Between 1999 and 2008 he studied film directing at the Film and TV School of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU). His feature debut Eighty Letters premiered in 2011 in the official selection of the Berlinale International Film Festival. The film was an international success and was screened at many film festivals, winning many awards. In 2012, Václav Kadrnka was awarded the Czech Film Critics prize for Discovery of the Year.
Since 2014 he works at FAMU as a freelance lecturer. In 2017 his second feature film was finished, this time based on an epic poem by Jaroslav Vrchlický, Svojanovský křížáček (The Little Crusader of Svojanov).
