Marek Torčík

Poet and writer Marek Torčík hails from Přerov and lives in Prague, where he studied English-language literature and culture at Charles University’s Faculty of Arts. His poetry collection Rhizomy (Rhizomes) came out in 2016; since then, he has published his prose and poetry primarily in various magazines. In 2018 and in 2020, he was one of ten finalists in the Czech-Slovak poetry competition Básne SK/CZ. His debut novel Rozložíš paměť (Memory Burn) was awarded a Magnesia Litera prize for prose and the Jiří Orten Award for authors under thirty. The rights for the book’s translation have been sold for more than twenty-seven languages.
