Kateřina Svatoňová, a member of the Department of Film Studies at Charles University’s Faculty of Arts, has long studied media theory, the history, archeology, and philosophy of media, visual culture, and the relationship between film and other media. She has curated numerous exhibitions on the history of film and media, has edited various monothematic periodicals and academic publications, and is the author of numerous books, including 2 ½ D: Prostor (ve) filmu v kontextu literatury a výtvarných umění (2008), Odpoutané obrazy: Archeologie českého virtuálního prostoru (2013), and Mezi-obrazy: Mediální praktiky kameramana Jaroslava Kučery (2016), for which she received the FX Šalda Award. She is also the co-author of the monographs Dictator of Time. (De)contextualizing the Phenomenon of Laterna magika (2019) and Ester Krumbachová (2022).
