International Competition 1: Under the Sign of Libra
A golf cart drives sedately across a dignified green field as Philipino girls in comely outfits run around. The never-ending noise of life on the streets of Manila’s poorest neighborhood. A wedding somewhere in England, a Russian housing estate, a psychiatrist’s office, and a car on a road in the middle of nowhere. Maybe everything fits together exactly as it is supposed to. Everything has its place and things have their given order, but we have known for a long time that this balance of the world is very, very fragile.
This year’s International Competition features 37 films from 29 countries. The jury for this section will present one award for best film, which comes with a financial prize of 3,000 Euros, plus two honorable mentions.
Films can be seen at cinemas in Prague and throughout the Czech Republic, but also online at www.kviff.tv, were you can vote for the Audience Awards and win a festival pass for the 55th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
