Pokerface

One day, a young Iranian woman’s Swedish husband dies while sitting on the toilet. The trouble is, she doesn’t speak Swedish, and worse yet – the shame of not being able to send money to her family back in Iran! She must avoid losing face at all costs and internet poker seems to be just the way out.

Denize Karabuda

Denize Karabuda (1962, Sweden) studied at the National Academy of Acting in Stockholm. Her first feature screenplay Se upp för dårarna (Mind the Gap, 2007) was a box-office hit in Sweden. Pokerface is her directing debut. She is now working on a feature film.
