NEOZOON Tribute

In the spring of 2010, the artists’ group NEOZOON installed mechanically moving fur coats at the Münster Zoo in Germany, thus disrupting visitors’ viewing habits. The film takes us into the coat-animals’ enclosure while also documenting the reactions of zoo visitors in front of the cage.

NEOZOON

NEOZOON is a female art collective founded in 2009 in Berlin and Paris. Their work is based on the principle of collage and investigates sociological questions relating to speciesism in the Anthropocene. A recurring element in their videos is the de- and recontextualization of found footage and YouTube material.

NEOZOON’s work has been exhibited at, among other places, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, ZKM in Karlsruhe, and Kunstwerke Berlin and has been shown at national and international film festivals in Oberhausen, Rotterdam, Locarno, and New York.
