Mother Is a Natural Sinner
Hoda, an Iranian refugee in Germany, lives with her boyfriend, Hadi. An unexpected pregnancy leads her to examine common beliefs regarding gender roles and challenges the current social norms surrounding feminine bodies and motherhood.

Hoda Taheri, Boris Hadžija
Hoda Taheri is an Iranian filmmaker based in Berlin. Her first short film, Mother Prays All Day Long, won special mention at the 2022 Locarno Film Festival and was nominated for the German Short Film Award. Her second short film, As If Mother Cried That Night, premiered at the 2023 Locarno Film Festival. Her debut feature film, I’ll Plant My Hands in the Garden, is currently in development. Co-directed with Boris Hadžija, the project has been selected for the 2023 Locarno residency program.
Boris Hadžija is a Serbian filmmaker and musician currently living in Berlin. His most recent works include the film As If Mother Cried That Night (co-writer and editor, 2023), Yugotransport (writer and director, 2023), and Mother Prays All Day Long (producer, 2022, Locarno Film Festival). He has been nominated for the German Short Film Award. His debut feature film, I’ll Plant My Hands in the Garden, a co-direction project with Hoda Taheri, has been selected for the 2023 Locarno residency program.
