Yi Tang
Prior to filmmaking, Tang Yi was an accounting major at college and a successful singer-songwriter in Hong Kong. She moved to New York to pursue a career in filmmaking after being accepted to NYU’s graduate film program. She concentrates on untold stories and unheard voices from a woman’s perspective. Her first short film, Black Goat (2019), which she shot in Nepal, was awarded a Grand Jury Prize at AFI Fest 2020. Also in 2020, the Austin Film Festival named her one of “25 Screenwriters to Watch.”
