Jean-Pierre Jeunet
Jean-Pierre Jeunet (b. 1953, France) is a self-taught director who started his film career with TV commercials and music videos. Collaborating with his friend Marc Caro, he made two animated short films, L’ Évasion (1978) and Le Manège (1980), and the scripted short film Le Bunker de la dernière rafale (1981). He made two more scripted short films, Pas de repos pour Billy Brakko (1984) and Foutaises (1989), by himself. In 1991, Jeunet and Caro made their hit feature debut Delikatesen. Its success allowed him to work on his dream film La Cité des enfants perdus (1995) and move to the United States to work on Alien: Resurrection (1997). After returning to France he started working on a very personal project that became the most successful French film in history – Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (2001). His last film to date was Un long dimanche de fiançailles (2004).
