The Mumps

This fragile and playful film takes us into the diary of a six-year-old girl full of banal and somewhat less banal experiences. By using a variety of visual and animation styles, the film shows us not only the world of children but also lets us see how children see us adults. For the role of the film’s only character, the director chose the young Jenůfka Boková, and it is her voice that gives the film an almost unexpected authenticity. The Mumps: The Diary of a Six-Year-Old is director Maria Procházková’s graduate film from FAMU’s Department of Animated Film.
