Jane Campion

Jane Campion (New Zeeland, 1954) studied anthropology, painting and eventually film directing at the Australian School of Film and Television. Her first short film, Peel (1982) won the Palme D’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Her other short films as well as her features also received numerous awards: Sweetie (1989), An Angel at My Table (1990) and Piano (1993), which won the Palme D’Or at Cannes, making her the first woman ever to win this award. The Portrait of a Lady (1996), Holy Smoke (1999) and In the Cut (2003) followed.
