The LABO best film award goes to the Exploding Girl, Special Mention goes to Crazy Lotus
The French film The Exploding Girl won the award for the Best Film of LABO section at the 19th Pragueshorts Film Festival, while the Thai film Crazy Lotus received a special mention.
The jury of the LABO section, which presents new and innovative approaches to film language and narrative forms, included performer and poet Elena Pecenová, artist and curator Jiří Havlíček and photographer Tomáš Souček. The main prize went to the French film The Exploding Girl by Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel. The jury appreciated the film as „a hauntingly intimate tale unfolds against the backdrop of a seemingly superficial, synthetic aesthetic,“ Special Mention goes to the Thai film Crazy Lotus by Naween Noppakun. The jury perceives the film as “an uncompromising vision that exposes the absurd dynamics of hypercapitalist reality.“
Both films will be available for online viewing from March 2 until March 23 at the KVIFF.TV streaming platform.
