Audience Award and the best from the Pragueshorts Film Festival, all on Mall.tv

This year, Mall.tv will once again join the Pragueshorts Film Festival to present a selection of short films from around the world, including works by domestic filmmakers. For the first time ever, during the festival viewers of this online television platform can decide which Czech film will receive the Audience Award.

Starting on 8 January, Mall.tv will present ten films that were among the most popular at past festivals. Viewers can thus see the Oscar-nominated Belgian comedy Tanghi Argentini about an unusual Christmas gift, or Sweden’s Pleasure, which takes us behind the scenes at a porn shoot. In Britain’s Love Is Blind, audiences will find that the usual scene with a lover in the bed and the husband in the hallway can end up quite unexpectedly, and thanks to the Australian thriller Yardbird we see that it is better not to provoke some girls. The diverse selection of films also includes works by Czech filmmakers, for instance Martin Krejčí’s A Little Secret and Jiří Menzel’s 1963 film Our Mr. Foerster Died, which clearly shows that it was made by a director who just three years later would shoot the Oscar-winning Closely Watched Trains. All the films will be available for one month, and can be seen for free along the more than forty feature-length films offered by Mall.tv. Just visit www.mall.tv/shortky

From 20 to 26 January 2020, Mall.tv will show nine new Czech short films, and viewers can vote online to decide which should be awarded the Mall.tv Audience Award in the National Competition section of the Pragueshorts Film Festival.

By presenting the short films in its “Shortky” section for free, Mall.tv is supporting the mission of the Pragueshorts Film Festival, which is now its fifteenth year of promoting and producing short artistic films.
