Two honorable mentions went to Norway’s A Stone Slowly Falls

The jury’s two honorable mentions went to Norway’s A Stone Slowly Falls by director/screenwriter Kerren Lumer-Klabbers (1981, Denmark). The jury recognized the film for “its cinematic treatment of characters experiencing emotional confusion while overcoming depression and returning to everyday life.” The jurors were also taken by the performance of actor Fredrik Stenberg Ditlev-Simonsen, and thus decided to award the film its second honorable mention because of his acting. A Stone Slowly Falls takes an unusual look at depression and uses a creative narrative structure to take us inside the human mind. One year, when a regular meteor shower appears in the sky, Tor decides that nothing has meaning anymore. He tries to come to terms with this new realization, but his curiosity will probably be a problem.
