Prague short film festival presents From Balkan with love

Prague shorts film festival presents six films from the Balkans Peninsula. This region has always been a meeting place of cultures and religions and it became known for its dark humour, emotions and open-heartedness of its inhabitants. All these influences are reflected in Balkans cinema and Balkan films are very successful at international film festivals all over the world. Among the six short films, the acclaimed director Žiga Virc will introduce topical issue of refugees in the Balkans in the film New Home. Six years old Selma decides to save a chicken that she got as a birthday present and set it free in the film drama The Chicken, which was honoured by European Film Academy. And dark comedy Baits and Hooks inspired by the New Wave of Czech cinema offers a story of friends facing the transition of socialism into capitalism.We want to present the region through the most original work of the past years, and through a diversity of genres – from dark comedy, to family drama, to thriller.
