Václav Jirásek
Labo Jury
In his artistic practice, visual artist Václav Jirásek works primarily with photography, without limiting himself to any specific theme. A common denominator of all his works is an interest in mystery, irony, kitsch, masks, visual faux pas, new documentary forms, decadence, and recycled art. He was a founding member of the Bratrstvo (Brotherhood) art group. He later created the photographic series Infection (2001), Industria (2006), and The World According to Ironym Kool (2015). Since 2003, he has documented the traditional St. Nicholas processions in Moravian Wallachia. He is also engaged in long-time collaborative efforts with, for instance JSD (Jedinečné Svatopěstitelské Družstvo / The Peerless Cooperative of Holy Nurture – UPSYCH 316a), and Jan Kodat, aka Jožo.
