Liuying Cao

Cao Liuying is the co-founder of Midnight Blur Films and its international sales agency Parallax Film. For many years, she has worked to bring short and feature films from Asia to prestigious festivals and to sell them to major markets around the world. In 2021, she was listed as one of the industry’s “Future Leaders” by Screen International magazine. A film critic and curator, she co-founded the film critic platform DeepFocus, which now boasts over 500,000 followers across the Chinese-speaking world. She also serves as co-director of the Red Lotus Asian Film Festival in Vienna and artistic director of the Chinese Film Festival in Munich and is a longtime collaborator of the Shanghai International Film Festival, Berlin Critics’ Week, and First Cut Lab.
