EFA 2017

Since 1988, the European Film Academy has been annually presenting its own awards, sometimes nicknamed European Oscars. Since 1998, they have included an award for the best short film as well. Every year, fifteen collaborating European festivals each nominate one live-action, animated, or documentary short film. From these fifteen nominees, members of the European Film Academy then select the winner. In 2017, a full ten of the nominees were live-action films. You will have the opportunity to see four of these – The Artificial Humors, Written/Unwritten, Copa-Loca, and Wannabe – at this year’s Prague Short Film Festival in the international competition and the #followme section. The latest winner of the EFA Award, the Spanish short Timecode, was included in last year’s international competition. So if you missed it back then and now wonder what’s so special about it or just want to see what films competed for this prestigious award last year, you shouldn’t miss this individual part of the festival programme.
