Some strictly avoid using them while others welcome them with open arms. Some consider them a useful but otherwise unnecessary part of our everyday interactions, others can hardly imagine living without them. Some see them as a Trojan horse, a treacherous venomous snake that we all too willingly nourish in our bosom while others foresee their future possibilities as well as their potential to change the world for the better. Regardless of where we stand on the use of modern technologies such as the Internet and virtual reality, whether with the reserved sceptics or captivated enthusiasts, one thing is certain: these technologies have a far-reaching impact on the way we live our lives and how we form and understand our relationships – both to other people and to the world as such. This is what the handful of selected films in this section aims to illustrate in a non-black-and-white and thought-provoking way.
