Todd Solondz

Todd Solondz (1959, USA) studied film at NYU where he made several award-winning short films that brought him a contract for three feature films with two major studios, Columbia and 20th Century Fox, when he was just 26 years old. After his horribly failed debut, Fear, Anxiety and Depression (1989)”, he left Hollywood to teach English to Russian immigrants. He returned to film in 1995 with the independent Welcome to the Dollhouse, winner of awards from Sundance, Berlin and other festivals. His following films, Happiness (1998), Storytelling (2001), Palindromes (2004) and Life during Wartime (2009) confirmed his status of one of the best and original contemporary directors of independent films.
